Overview

Secret Tacos Tomás - SG is a standout taco spot nestled at 365b S San Gabriel Blvd, right in the heart of San Gabriel, CA. This taco joint offers an authentic taste of Mexico with a focus on traditional flavors and handmade craftsmanship. Known especially for their Al Pastor and Suadero, the menu highlights also boast delights such as the My Taco Night combo, fresh Tortillas Hechas A Mano, and a variety of carefully prepared burritos that satisfy hearty appetites.

What truly sets Secret Tacos Tomás apart is the commitment to quality and freshness—from the flavor-packed meats to the handmade corn tortillas that effortlessly hold the fillings without breaking. The Barra de Salsas provides an array of spicy and vibrant salsas, adding customizable heat and depth to each taco or burrito. The Aguachile de Pepino offers a refreshing contrast, perfect for those seeking a tangy, cooling bite alongside their meal.

The experience here is casual and fast-paced, ideal for grab-and-go diners rather than sit-down meals, as the space lacks seating. Despite this, service remains efficient, often delivering orders in under ten minutes even when a line forms during peak hours. The crowd mainly consists of locals and taco enthusiasts from the greater 626 area who savor authentic Mexican street food with bold flavors.

Customers consistently praise the bold, rich flavors of the meats, especially the Al Pastor with pineapple, and highlight the lovingly crafted tortillas that elevate every bite. While some note the thin corn tortillas can be delicate, this traditional approach underscores the genuine preparation techniques. The team is reputed to be friendly and hardworking, though some have mentioned minor frustrations with payment handling. Noteworthy is the establishment’s policy on credit cards, which excludes American Express and includes a small card usage fee.

Parking is free and convenient on San Gabriel Blvd, making it easy for both locals and visitors to stop by. The lack of dining space is the only downside mentioned, but the quality and authenticity of the food more than make up for it. Whether you’re in the mood for a well-stuffed Al Pastor burrito or the adventurous tripas and cabeza tacos, Secret Tacos Tomás delivers a genuine taste of Mexican street fare that many have come to love as a local treasure.

Secret Taco is really a not so secret spot. It’s located right off San Gabriel blvd with a ton of people visiting it. After finally giving it a try, this has become one of my new favorite taco stands. I went on a weekday right around 6 pm. While I was able to order right away, a form was definitely forming afterwards. This spot is more of a grab and go, because there’s no table to sit down. The service was fast though, as I got everything in less than 10 minutes. I got the Al pastor burrito with everything in it. This burrito was packed fully with beans, rice, Al pastor, and cheese. I always leave with one in my order. I also got the lengua and asada tacos. The asada was a bit drier this time, while the lengua was still good. This spot also has a salsa bar. I grabbed a bunch of topping and salsa while I was waiting for my order. Some of these are generally pretty spicer. Keep in mind they charge a fee for using credit cards. They also do not accept American Express.

Tacos are good. Always go for the pastor. Condiments are plentiful. Only issues: single, small and thin tortillas used for tacos. They need to be double because they break easily. Secondly, the lady taking payments has an attitude. Lighten up.

Al pastor with the pineapples, that was the winner. Tacos are great and we saw the guy get a burrito after us and we all thought we should have gotten that, that thing looked amazing. It takes a bit to get your food though since the line is long, but this spot is worth the wait.

This taco spot is absolutely Amazing, the workers are nice and chill. They have great prices and hand made corn tortillas. I think you should ignore the bad reviews because they are just acting like babies. Also I hands down think they are fair with their prices and portions

Omg, hands down the best tacos in the 626. And trust me, I’ve had my fair share from TJ Tacos to Tacos El Gordo in San Diego and even Taco El Franc. This spot is legit. The line every night says it all. This time, I ordered the baked potato with cheese and lengua (tongue). Absolute perfection. They serve it with handmade corn tortillas that take everything to another level. The meats here are packed with flavor. My usual go-tos are the al pastor, cabeza (cow’s head meat), and tripas (beef intestine). Next visit, I’m eyeing the sausages, stomach, and carne asada. And their salsa? To die for. It’s fresh, spicy, and ties everything together perfectly. The team here is friendly and clearly takes pride in what they do. You can taste the care in every bite. They’re parked right on San Gabriel Blvd with a solid setup. The ambiance is just right, and honestly, the only thing missing is some outdoor dining space. Parking is free and easy on the street.

Well, the secret’s definitely out this spot is no longer under the radar. Most times I drive by, there’s already a line wrapped around, and on my latest visit, I waited about 30 minutes to get my food. That said, the tacos here are still bomb. The tortillas are freshly pressed, and they’ve got a huge selection of meats basically every cut you can think of. My go-tos are the carne asada, al pastor, cabeza, and extra crispy tripas. One of my favorite things to get is the corn tortilla quesadilla with crispy tripas so satisfying. Bonus: they take credit cards (with a small fee), which is a lifesaver when you’re not carrying cash. If you haven’t been yet, definitely swing by this not-so-secret gem in the SGV!
